 Vazhaipoo is a healthy one which give lot of benefits to our body. There are many recipe using this vazhaipoo. Vazhaipoo poriyal which has vazhaipoo mixed with moong dal, coconut will give good flavour to your tongue.

Cleaning vazhaipoo is a time consuming work that should be done in free time. it can't be cleaned in a moment. First apply oil and start the following process. 

Seperate the valaipoo petal by petal.
You will get the florets.
Now remove pistil and calyx.
Now you attained cleaned florets.
Now chop into 2 or 3 piece.I used knife.

Now the main ingredient of the recipe is ready. It alone took 30 min. So in free time clean the florets. While you start to cook chop it and put in buttermilk. If you don't have buttermilk use normal room temperature water.

Now add this with soaked moong dal and cook in fresh water. Now seasoning with mustard, urad, onion, coconut will give extra taste.Enjoy this with rasam sadam, sambar or simply with white rice added with ghee.

Ingredients:
  • Vazhaipoo            - 2
  • Moong dal          - 3 tbsp
  • Small onion           - 6 to 8
  • Red chilli                 - 2
  • Coconut - 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup (adjustable)
  • Mustard, urad dal - 1/4 TSP
  • Cumin                - 1/4 TSP
  • Oil                       - 3 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 TSP 

Method:

  • First chop the vazhaipoo after cleaned it.soak moong dal for 30 minutes.
  • For cleaning vazhaipoo ,.                            Seperate the valaipoo petal by petal.
    You will get the florets.

    Now you attained cleaned florets.

  • Now add water in a pan and when it start to boil add vazhaipoo, moong dal, salt.cook until vazhaipoo gets cooked.
  • Now drain water and keep it aside 
  • Heat pan , add oil, mustard, urad dal, cumin, red chilli, finely chopped onion, curry leaves and finally cooked vazhaipoo , moong dal,turmeric powder and salt .
  • Stir it until water dries completely and turn off the flame.
  • Now add grated coconut and stir gently in all side in that heat itself.
