HOW TO THICKEN GRAVY?
Common problem with the beginner's in cooking is fear.For example , if they see one recipes in blog/ youtube/ any social media they thought that we have to use those ingredients, with the same procedure..
But I think, there is no protocol like that.we can alter the recipe to our sake. If you want to use cashew paste, but you don't have. At that time you can add coconut paste or any flour mix to it. But make sure you should never change the main ingredient.
On this basis , I answer to doubt HOW TO THICKEN GRAVY?
10 easy way to thicken gravy:
- Coconut paste
- Groundnut/cashews
- Roasted bengal gram
- Corn flour
- Gram flour
- Yogurt
- Boiled potato
- Cream
- Rice flour
- If nothing is there, you grind onion, tomato and fresh spices instead of adding as whole.
If your gravy is little thin, you can add coconut paste.
2.GROUNDNUT/ CASHEWS
If you want your gravy to be thick and rich, grind groundnut/cashew along with coconut .
3.ROASTED BENGAL GRAM
If you want your gravy to more thick,for example as a side dish for chapati, poori , grind roasted bengal gram along with coconut.
4.CORN FLOUR
Take 1 to 2 tbsp corn flour in a bowl. Add water little by little to make smooth paste.now add this paste in gravy by stirring without taking hand.
5.GRAM FLOUR
Take 1 to 2 tbsp gram flour in a bowl. Add water little by little to make smooth paste.now add this paste in gravy by stirring continuously.
6.YOGURT
This ingredient also thickens the gravy, but while adding curd reduce the tomato .
7.BOILED POTATO
Add boiled potato into the gravy in last phase. Mash it well before use. Try to add boiled potato to gravy as side dish for chapati.
8.CREAM
Add cream at last to gravy.
9.RICE FLOUR
Instead of adding rice flour , try to add soaked raw rice, grind it well and then add it.if it not possible then add rice flour in water little by little to make smooth paste.now add this paste in gravy by stirring continuously.
10.BEST METHOD
If you want to serve gravy in special occasion, skip add tomato , onion by chopping. Instead of this fry all ingredient and cool it. After it gets cool grind the ingredient along with coconut and groundnut/ cashew. This make your gravy to top level.
